Li- The Land

Li started on a beautiful piece of land in Chouf as a natural lab inspired by permaculture principles. It was created to offer an educational space where people could reconnect with nature, learn sustainable farming and living techniques, and share this knowledge within their communities.

It was an innovative model where visitors could learn how to grow and preserve their own food, build with natural materials like earthbags, and design simple, functional systems. It was also a space for people to exchange ideas, skills, and experiences.

Visitors had the option to camp on the land as well, giving them the chance to stay overnight and experience a deeper connection with the natural environment and the community. The space also had a farm-to-table restaurant, where people could pick fresh organic vegetables from the land and bring them to the kitchen. The chef would use those ingredients to prepare delicious meals on the spot.

The land was open to anyone interested in hands-on learning. Workshops covered a wide range of topics, including eco-building projects like earthbag hobbit houses, cob ovens, and vermi-compost toilets, as well as understanding soil, natural mixes, and sustainable practices.

Participants also learned how to build raised beds, plant their own food, and design productive gardens—all following permaculture ethics. The program included wellness activities like yoga and meditation, along with creative sessions such as circus arts and making natural pigments from stones and soil. Events like Tarayana brought the community together for learning and celebration.
