We are in for our last shift of this year, the shift from autumn to winter season! As for we are heading to the darkest night of the year (winter solstice) The wind is getting stronger, the weather is getting colder & the rain is getting heavier! We can notice the dominance of the water element started taking over (rain & snow)!
In spite the festivities & hype, A sense of heaviness, a slow feeling and a feeling to hibernate starts to dominate.
Just as the animals hibernate underground, we are called to do the same. Slow down, tune in & drop to our core, to our hearts! It’s one of the hardest seasons due to its intense collective energies & the fact that we are in our end of the cycle where all the shedding & releasing takes place.
Our core is using most of our energy to warm out our body, our physical activity decreases cause of the weather (less movement, less sweating, less cleansing) & the water in us increases (water represents emotions)! We must make sure to keep on stimulating & moving those waters for our body not to become a living swamp!
🔥 The goal of this season is to keep ourselves warm, nourished and our digestive fire burning strong! Go for cooked warming foods, slightly oily & well-spiced (choose ones that stimulates your body like peppers, sumac, ginger, onion, garlic) & avoid foods that are cold, damp, or excessively sweet, heavy, or oily.
🍶Add lots of fermented dishes (like kimchi, sauerkraut, Kombucha, kefir). These foods are not just foods, they are medicine by themselves! They are a powerhouse of probiotic strains, vitamins and minerals. Fermented foods have a direct impact on our gut health & immune system!
🍠 Brown & white foods are a heart- healthy choice and an amazing source of fiber. They have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial & immune boosting effects such as mushrooms, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, onion, garlic & ginger
🍇 Blue & purple foods have an affinity to our immune system. They contain powerful antioxidant & anti-aging effects, protecting the body from oxidative stress & related conditions such as blueberries, elderberries, purple cabbage/cauliflower, beets
Red foods are among the highest in vitamin c! They contain powerful antioxidants & phytochemicals that are cardioprotective, increases our gut microbiome, and fights any inflammation such as strawberries, tomatoes, pomegranate, apples
Herbal allies: Oregano, Mullein, pine needles, Elderberry, calendula, rosemary, Rosehip & hawthorn
Recommendations: Slow down. Rest. Tend to your nervous system. Listen to those internal cues. Discern .. Clean your heart from all that it is and return to the womb, it is the place where seeds turns greens!
